French and Indian War was about the French and British wanting to own the same land in 1759. In 1763, the British defeated the French and owned the 13 colonies. (Maine,New Jersey,Rhode Island,New York,Pennsylvania,Deleware,Geaorgia,South Carolina,North Carolina,Virginia,Massachusetts,Connecticut)

Militias- is a group of citizens trained to fight and help in emergencies.

Patriot -a supporter of the cause of revolution

William Livingston was New Jersey's first govener, ordered the New Jersey militia to capture any loyalists caught trading with the British or trying to join the British army.

Hessians- soldiers from the german state of hesse.

The battle of Monmouth gave us a hero named Mary Ludwig Hays.

Monmouth Courthouse Washington's troops were to meet Lee's army here.

Morristown is close to New York, but is also protected by hills.

Lesson 3- A More Perfect Union


convention- a formal meeting held for a special purpose.

Compromise- each side gives up some of its demands to reach an agreement.
